Vallejo, Solano County
Vallejo sits where the Napa River meets San Pablo Bay, and ferries make the run from its waterfront to San Francisco in about an hour. General Mariano Vallejo offered the site for a state capital, and the Legislature met here briefly in 1852 and 1853 before moving on. The city is also home to the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom park.
